Fine natrolite crystals sit on a dark volcanic matrix. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1693\" data-end=\"1868\">The crystals form dense, locally radial aggregates. Individual fine crystals project from the more compact groups. Their color ranges from white to cream-colored.  <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1870\" data-end=\"1990\">Measuring 4.7 \u00d7 3.7 \u00d7 1.0 cm, the piece belongs to the miniature specimen size category. It weighs 20.7 g. <\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"mffcv0\" data-start=\"1992\" data-end=\"2050\">Natrolite from a Protected Locality near Herdorf<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2052\" data-end=\"2351\">The Mahlscheid basalt quarry is a documented German locality for natrolite and other zeolite minerals. The former quarry is located near Herdorf in the Altenkirchen district and is now protected. Natrolite has been documented from this locality.  <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2353\" data-end=\"2555\">The zeolite minerals formed in fractures and cavities within the volcanic rock.
