Minerals have fascinated me for many years — not only because of their beauty, but above all because of the geological processes by which they are formed. Mineralien weltweit is therefore not an anonymous business, but the result of my personal passion for mineralogy, ore deposits, and exceptional localities.
I studied geology and mineralogy at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and specialized in economic geology. This academic background also shapes the way I select and describe the minerals offered in my shop. For me, it is not only important how a specimen looks, but also where it comes from, in which geological setting it formed, and what makes it special.
Minerals with Origin and History
Some of the minerals offered in my shop were acquired during my own travels. I buy specimens directly on site, from local dealers, miners, or in the vicinity of the respective mining districts. Other specimens were collected by myself. In the shop, I deliberately mark this provenance with the attributes “Acquired On Site” and “Self-Collected.”
I am particularly interested in minerals from Latin America. Several journeys have already taken me to the emerald regions of Colombia, including Muzo, Coscuez, Chivor, and Gachalá. There I was not only able to acquire mineral specimens, but also to visit mines, gain first-hand insight into the geological setting, and establish local contacts.
Other classic as well as lesser-known localities also play an important role in my inventory. What matters most to me is always the combination of mineralogical quality, reliable provenance, and collector interest.
Carefully Selected Collector Specimens
Each specimen is individually selected, photographed, and described. Dimensions, weight, locality, mineral species, and visible characteristics are documented as accurately as possible. Condition, crystal development, luster, and transparency are described as objectively as possible.
A precise locality description is especially important to me. Whenever more detailed information is available — such as a mine, quarry, mining district, or specific locality — it is included as well. Historical labels and provenances are preserved whenever possible and documented accordingly.
In addition to the regular shop, there is also a showroom featuring a selection of particularly special collector specimens. These pieces stand out because of their rarity, aesthetics, locality, provenance, or mineralogical significance.
Mineralogy Beyond the Shop
In the long term, Mineralien weltweit is intended to be more than just an online shop. In my blog, I write about localities, ore deposits, mineral parageneses, and my own travels. Topics include, for example, the emerald regions of Colombia, rare associated minerals, and the geological processes behind mineral formation.
My aim is to combine high-quality collector minerals with sound geological expertise and personal experience in the field.
