Historic Iron Mine near Niederhövels
Eupel Mine was located near Niederhövels, close to Wissen, in today’s Altenkirchen district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It was one of the historic iron mines of the Siegerland region and closed in 1964.
The locality is especially known for cream-colored to brownish dolomite crystals, sometimes associated with pyrite or chalcopyrite. This specimen shows the ochre-colored dolomite mineralization characteristic of the locality.
