Numerous colorless to white quartz crystals form a densely covered crystal group on the natural matrix. The differently oriented crystal points give the specimen a lively, three-dimensional surface.

The crystals predominantly show the typical prismatic habit of quartz. Their dull to vitreous luster and partly pale to translucent appearance define the mineralogical character of this specimen

Rock Crystal from Göpfersgrün in the Fichtel Mountains

Göpfersgrün is a district of Wunsiedel in the Upper Franconian Fichtel Mountains of Bavaria. Various quartz varieties and quartz specimens are known from the area. Quartz is documented, among other localities, from the Johanneszeche near Göpfersgrün.

This specimen shows a dense group of small rock crystal points. Its origin in the Fichtel Mountains makes it particularly suitable as a regional reference specimen for collections of German mineral localities.

With dimensions of 8.5 × 7.5 × 6.5 cm and a weight of 416 g, this is a cabinet specimen. Its particular appeal lies in the densely covered surface and its origin from Göpfersgrün near Wunsiedel.
