This rock crystal cluster comes from the Chivor emerald district in the Department of Boyacá, Colombia. Several colorless and transparent quartz crystals rise freely from the natural rock matrix.
The crystals display well-defined faces and a pronounced vitreous luster. Their clarity and spatial arrangement allow the crystal cluster to stand out clearly against the darker matrix. Measuring approximately 6.5 × 6.0 × 6.0 cm, this is a compact small cabinet specimen.
Rock Crystal from the Chivor Emerald District
Chivor is primarily known for its emerald deposits. Quartz, calcite, pyrite, and other associated minerals also occur in the hydrothermal mineralization. Pure rock crystal clusters from this region are seen far less frequently on the market than emerald specimens, making them particularly interesting for locality collectors and collectors specializing in Colombian minerals.
The specimen was acquired directly from a miner in the Chivor mining region during a personal trip to Colombia. It therefore has a traceable provenance from the classic emerald region of Boyacá.
