Gypsum from Kobeřice – Fan-Shaped Crystal Aggregates
This gypsum specimen from Kobeřice in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic features a dense cluster of pale yellow to cream-colored crystals. Particularly striking are the tabular to bladed crystals of different sizes, some of which form fan-shaped and rosette-like aggregates.
Some crystals are translucent in thinner areas and display a vitreous to somewhat silky luster. The light-colored, porous matrix is visible between the crystal groups and covers much of the reverse side.
Several crystal edges show minor chipping or incomplete preservation. Nevertheless, the varied crystal arrangement makes this an interesting collector’s specimen from a Czech gypsum locality.
