White to cream-white analcime crystals from Jakuby in the Czech Republic on a grayish-green, weathered rock matrix. The closely intergrown crystals form a distinctive light-colored coating that contrasts with the dark mineral grains in the underlying rock. An interesting specimen from the volcanic region of northern Bohemia.
Analcime from Jakuby – White Crystals on Volcanic Matrix
This analcime specimen comes from Jakuby near Děčín in northern Bohemia, Czech Republic, a locality known for its zeolite minerals. Its most striking feature is the dense covering of white to cream-colored analcime crystals, which almost completely coats the upper part of the specimen. Individual crystal faces are clearly visible in some areas, while others form more rounded, botryoidal-looking aggregates.
The grayish-green to beige, weathered matrix contains numerous small, dark, elongated mineral grains. Its appearance suggests a volcanic host rock, although its exact petrographic classification has not been determined. The contrast between the fine-grained matrix and the bright analcime crystals makes this specimen particularly interesting.
Measuring 6.9 × 4 × 2.6 cm and weighing 66.5 g, this is a compact collector’s specimen from northern Bohemia.
