The Czech Republic is one of Central Europe’s most mineralogically diverse countries, with numerous historic mineral localities. The Bohemian Massif, in particular, contains a wide range of mineral occurrences associated with igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. Alongside historic mining districts, pegmatites, volcanic rocks, and classic crystal localities are especially important to mineral collectors.
This category features minerals and collector specimens from different regions of the Czech Republic. The selection includes tourmalines from the lithium-rich pegmatites of Rožná, orthoclase showing Carlsbad twinning from Loket, and pseudoleucite from Loučná. These specimens illustrate different crystal habits and the mineralogical diversity of Bohemian and Moravian localities.
Other localities are also represented, including analcime from Jakuby and pyrite from Otvovice, as well as gypsum crystals from Kobeřice and Velké Němčice. The selection also includes garnets from Czech localities, such as the characteristic pyrope from Bohouňovice. These different mineral species reflect the country’s complex geological history.
Each mineral specimen is documented with the most precise locality information available, dimensions, weight, and original photographs. Particular attention is given to crystal habit, crystal arrangement, matrix, and the mineralogical characteristics of the locality. The selection includes both classic collector minerals and interesting specimens from lesser-known Czech mineral localities.
