Minerals can be classified into different mineral classes based on their chemical composition and crystal chemistry. This systematic classification makes it possible to view minerals not only by name or locality, but also according to their fundamental chemical and structural characteristics.

The classification used here is based on the mineralogical systematics of Strunz. It includes, among others, native elements, sulfides, halides, oxides and hydroxides, carbonates, sulfates, phosphates and silicates.

The individual mineral classes lead directly to the corresponding collector specimens in the Mineralien Weltweit range. Many specimens are also organized by mineral species and country of origin, providing different ways to explore the collection.
