This Agate from Nowy Kościół in Lower Silesia, Poland displays a pronounced, repeatedly layered banding on its cut and polished front surface. The pattern consists of reddish brown, orange-brown, gray, white and cream-colored bands. Particularly striking is the irregular, sharply angular inner structure, which locally creates an almost star-like appearance.
Measuring 10.2 × 8.5 × 4 cm and weighing 412.4 g, this is a large cabinet specimen. The polished front clearly reveals the internal structure of the Agate, while the reverse remains largely natural and shows the original host rock.
Finely banded Agate with a distinctive internal pattern
The Agate filling consists of numerous closely spaced Chalcedony bands. The layers alternate between reddish brown, orange-brown, gray, white and cream-colored tones and follow the irregular shape of the former cavity.
This produces a lively, repeatedly angular pattern with strong contrast between the individual bands. Lighter, partly quartz-rich areas are also present toward the center.
The front surface has been cut and polished, making the fine banding particularly visible. The reverse, by contrast, retains the natural, unpolished exterior of the specimen.
