This green diaspore specimen comes from the Saga I Quarry in Norway. Pale green diaspore crystals occur in small cavities within a white matrix densely covered with fine natrolite crystals.
The diaspore crystals form compact aggregates with clearly visible crystal faces and a pronounced luster. Their fresh yellowish-green color stands out distinctly against the white natrolite. Several mineralized cavities are distributed across the front of the specimen.
Green Diaspore from Saga I Quarry
Diaspore is an aluminum oxide hydroxide that can occur in different colors. The green crystals in this specimen form a characteristic mineral association with the fine needle-like natrolite from the locality.
