This vanadinite specimen comes from the Mibladen mining district near Midelt in Morocco. Numerous orange-red vanadinite crystals cover the surface of the matrix and form a compact crystal group.
The crystals display the typical hexagonal, predominantly tabular habit of vanadinite. Clearly visible crystal faces and a pronounced vitreous to resinous luster enhance the specimen’s intense orange-red color.
Vanadinite from Mibladen
Vanadinite is a lead vanadate and is one of the best-known minerals from Morocco’s lead deposits. Mibladen is particularly known for orange to red vanadinite crystals in a variety of crystal forms.
