Vesuvianite from Hamrefjell, Norway – Dark Green Crystals with Vitreous Luster

This Vesuvianite specimen comes from the Hamrefjell locality in Norway. Numerous dark green Vesuvianite crystals occur on the light-colored matrix and are particularly concentrated in an attractive crystallized zone on the front side.

The crystals show a distinct vitreous luster and stand out clearly from the matrix. Several crystals are well formed and partly free-standing, allowing their crystal faces and edges to be clearly observed, especially in the close-up photographs.

Dark green Vesuvianite crystals on light-colored matrix

The front side is characterized by a continuous zone of Vesuvianite crystallization. The dark green crystals occur in different sizes and orientations, creating a lively and three-dimensional surface.

Particularly striking is the strong contrast between the lustrous crystal faces and the lighter matrix. Depending on the viewing angle, numerous crystal faces reflect the light distinctly.

Crystallized on the reverse side as well

The reverse side of the specimen also displays numerous Vesuvianite crystals. Here, the crystallization is distributed more broadly across the surface and is less concentrated around individual larger crystals than on the front side.

With dimensions of 3.2 × 2.8 × 1.6 cm, this is a compact Miniature specimen distinguished by its combination of dark green color, clearly recognizable crystal development and pronounced vitreous luster.
