This Emerald specimen from Coscuez in Colombia features a vivid green, clearly visible Emerald crystal on a contrasting matrix. The main crystal measures approximately 6–7 mm and sits freely within a pale mineralized zone in the dark host rock.
Measuring 5.5 × 4.3 × 2.5 cm and weighing 86.5 g, this is a small cabinet specimen. The intense green color of the Emerald stands out clearly against the white to pale gray vein mineralization and the dark matrix.
Translucent Emerald crystal with vivid color
The Emerald crystal shows a vivid green color and is translucent. Under direct illumination, the green appears particularly bright and clearly separated from the surrounding rock.
The crystal is prismatic and clearly exposed from the matrix. Despite its relatively small size of 6–7 mm, it has a strong visual presence. The crystal faces show a noticeable luster in places.
A smaller additional green Emerald area or crystal growth is also visible in the lower part of the mineralized zone.
Emerald from the classic locality Coscuez
Coscuez in Boyacá is one of Colombia’s classic and internationally important Emerald-producing districts. The deposit lies within the Western Emerald Belt and is known for intensely green Emeralds hosted by dark sedimentary rocks.
On this specimen, the Emerald occurs within a pale vein mineralization that contrasts strongly with the dark matrix. This preserves the geological context of the crystal particularly well and makes it clearly visible on the specimen.
