Attractive small cabinet specimen with numerous light green, translucent apatite crystals on pale matrix from the Imilchil area in Morocco. Several prismatic crystals show good vitreous luster, although not all crystals have complete terminations.
Light Green Apatite Crystals on Contrasting Matrix
This attractive small cabinet specimen displays numerous light green to yellow-green apatite crystals on a pale, feldspar-rich matrix from the Imilchil area in Morocco. The translucent crystals are mostly short to elongated prismatic and are concentrated particularly in the upper part of the specimen.
Their pale color and vitreous luster create a clear contrast with the cream-white to beige matrix. Several crystals show well-defined prismatic faces and partly developed terminations. However, not all crystals are fully terminated; some are intergrown, partly embedded, or show natural contact and fracture surfaces.
Characteristic Apatite Specimen from the Moroccan Atlas Region
The Imilchil area is known among collectors for green apatite crystals on pale matrix. This specimen has an upright, compact form and displays crystallization from several viewing angles. The densely crystallized upper section gives the piece much of its visual appeal.
With dimensions of 5.0 × 3.5 × 3.0 cm and a weight of 45.6 g, this is a well-presented small cabinet specimen for a systematic mineral collection or a collection focused on Moroccan minerals.
