Quartz is one of the most common minerals in the Earth’s crust and occurs worldwide in a great variety of crystal forms, colors and geological settings. Well-developed prismatic crystals are especially characteristic, although massive, drusy and other forms are also common.
In this category, you will find specimens from a range of localities and in different forms. These include rock crystal, smoky quartz and other varieties, as well as pieces in which the mineral forms an important part of the association.
Each specimen is documented with the most precise locality information possible, together with dimensions, weight and original photographs. Depending on the piece, particular attention is given to crystal form, transparency, color, matrix, inclusions or associated minerals.
The mineral is of particular interest both mineralogically and to collectors because its appearance can vary considerably depending on the conditions under which it formed. The specimens offered here illustrate a range of crystal habits and varieties from classic as well as less commonly represented localities around the world.
