This attractive Mango Quartz specimen from Cabiche near Quípama in Colombia features numerous colorless to white Quartz crystals with characteristic yellow to orange-colored termination zones. The orange coloration is caused by Halloysite inclusions. Several slender, free-standing crystals form a three-dimensional group on a light-colored matrix.
Particularly striking are the colored crystal tips, which stand out clearly from the largely transparent to translucent crystal bodies. The different heights and orientations of the crystals give the specimen a lively, three-dimensional appearance.
Yellow-orange crystal tips and clear Quartz crystals
Several of the larger crystals show a distinctly yellow to orange-colored zone around their terminations. This coloration is particularly characteristic of Mango Quartz from Cabiche and creates a strong visual contrast with the clearer parts of the crystals.
Numerous smaller Quartz crystals occur between the larger crystals and add further density to the specimen. In addition to slender prismatic crystals, broader and partly milky Quartz sections are also present. This creates a varied crystal group with several attractive viewing angles.
